How We Help
The special education process can feel overwhelming. You don't have to navigate it alone.
Work alongside your school team to develop an effective Individualized Education Program built around your child's unique needs.
Walk into every meeting prepared — knowing what to ask, what to expect, and how to share your child's story clearly.
Clear, plain-language guidance on special education law, including IDEA and your child's right to a Free Appropriate Public Education.
Build productive, respectful partnerships with teachers and administrators — because the best outcomes happen when everyone works together.
Advocate for appropriate services, accommodations, and individualized supports that truly address your child's needs.
Gain the knowledge and confidence to become an effective, lifelong advocate for your child.
Our Approach
Just as a seed needs the right environment to grow, every child deserves an educational environment that nurtures their potential, honors their individuality, and supports their development.
Our mission is to equip parents with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to become effective advocates for their children. We help families cultivate that environment through:
“At S.E.E.D. Advocacy, we believe every child deserves to be seen, heard, valued, and included.”
Know the Language
A written plan, developed by you and your child's school team, that describes the specialized instruction, services, and supports your child will receive.
The federal law that guarantees eligible children with disabilities access to special education and related services — and gives parents a voice in the process.
Your child's right under IDEA to a public education, at no cost to you, that is designed to meet their individual needs.
Meet Your Advocate
More than twenty years on the school side of the IEP table — now on yours.
Joy has spent her career in special education: as a special education teacher in New York and Colorado, as a special education department coordinator, as a dean of students, and currently as a school administrator in Colorado. She has written and implemented IEPs, coached co-teaching teams, ensured IEP compliance with district, state, and federal requirements, and sat in countless IEP meetings making sure programming was designed around each student's unique needs.
That experience means she knows how schools work, what the process looks like from the inside, and how to help families and school teams work together toward what's best for the child.
Kind Words
Notes Joy has received throughout her years in education.
You've shown me humanity behind closed doors and it will be something I will never forget and have very much appreciated! You will always hold a special place in my heart, but you also have all my respect as well!
I'm so happy, I could finally cry in happy tears.
No one was afraid to think outside the box and that's how we get students to love school.
You are really good at what you do.
